FATHERDUCK London SS14
FATHERDUCK LONDON SS14
photography / Jake Rosenberg
fashion / Chad Burton
I had the opportunity to work once more with t-shirt brand FATHERDUCK London to style the lookbook for their SS14 capsule collection. Again Jake Rosenberg of the Coveteur was on board as photographer. This time around the brand wanted a more athletic mood to the lookbook so I paired the duck inspired tee's with mesh track pants and shorts and threw in some gear like elbow pads, whistles and mouth guards to reference sportswear. Another fun shoot and it sounds like this collection will be available through Topman so keep your eyes peeled.

Union J for Boys By Girls
If you're a fan of boy bands then I'm sure you've heard of Union J, one of the latest groups to come out of the X Factor UK. I styled them for the 2nd cover of the latest Boys By Girls magazine on the day before I moved away from London. Cecilie Harris photographed the group and also on board was John Mullan, one of my favorite hair stylists to work with in London. The boys are all a bit obsessed with their own hair, I don't think I've ever seen so much hair spray action in a room of mostly guys!
We didn't have much time with Union J so I only had a chance to do two looks. One was head to toe outfits by Christopher Shannon with his collaboration boots with Kickers. The second look featured on the cover of the issue was full on Topman with shoes by Kurt Geiger.
It was my kid sister's 13th birthday on the day of the shoot and the boys were even kind enough to sign a polaroid for her. Lucky girl!

Boys By Girls Issue 5 Double Covers
I'm so proud to share with you the twin covers for issue 5 of Boys By Girls magazine that I styled alongside Editor-in-Chief, photographer and my friend Cecilie Harris. Cecilie brought me in to act as Fashion Editor for this issue and I was so thrilled to be a part of it. Already having a great fan base, a very personal and approachable mood and a wealth of talented female photographers on board, Cecilie asked me to up the fashion content of the issue by bringing in a mixture of luxury brands like Vivienne Westwood MAN which the smouldering Matthew Bell wears on the cover (love that orange tartan!).
Issue 5 is also the first time that BBG featured any talent and were lucky enough to have the chance to work with X Factor boy band UNION J. I collaborated with Topman and Kurt Geiger shoes which were featured on the cover, as well as Christopher Shannon who outfitted some of the looks inside the issue. It's on sale now so get it while you can!

'till Sunday / Boys by Girls
This is a story I styled recently for Boys by Girls online. We wanted a slightly chavvy boy in an not so chavvy setting and lucky enough the photographer Georgie Wileman's brother's friend has an uber kitschy/adorable grandma style apartment that she kindly let us use. Love Jack's 90's boy band hair in this!

chadchad of the day 7.5
polka dot suit / Topman
floral vest top / American Apparel
blue clutch / Louis Vuitton
sunglasses / street vendor
blue loafers / G.I.L. Homme
Thanks to Pause Magazine for this street style snap out my outfit on Day 2 at London Fashion Week. I wanted to play with pattern and varying shades of blue for this look and it was one of my favorite outfits of the week. Unfortunately I don't get to keep the polka dot suit as it was a loan, but the rad floral tank top is all mine :) Too bad I'll have to wait til next spring to wear it again.

chadchad of the day 7.2
polka dot shirt / BON
polka dot shorts / ASOS
polka dot socks / Topman
brown shoes / from Korea
I finally made it out of London for a weekend away in small town England at a place called Lewes. It feels like I've been stuck in zone 1 for an eternity - not that it's so bad in central London, but it's nice to breathe some country air and not have to deal with constant crowds.
Burger and I went to the quaint little village of Lewes after finding a deal on Groupon (side note: never buy a Groupon hotel getaway, you'll always end up disappointed). Lots of churches, castles and tiny little shops and streets and even a Garland Day procession through the streets of girls with flowers in their hair dancing with marching bands and guys wearing lots of bells. I thought it would be much warmer than it actually was, so I ended up wearing this mix & match polka dot outfit for only about 30 minutes total. Boo! But I'm sure I'll find another occasion for this polka dot threesome.
So any thoughts on polka dots for guys? Some people say they are feminine but I think a guy can totally pull them off. I think it's more of the connections you make with polka dots like itsy-bitsy teenie-weenie yellow bikinis or those little dresses Zoe Deschanel always wears rather than the polka dots themselves.
If a Batman villain can rock polka dots, then why can't I? :)

chadchad of the day 7.0
I wanted to gild the lily for this outfit of the day and go all out extreme on floral. If only I had some floral trousers or jacket to make it really obnoxious. I picked this shirt up at a thrift shop the other day and added gold chain around the collar. If you love it, buy it HERE on our Burger & Fries boutique on ASOS Marketplace so I can pay the dang rent. London, I love you but you're bringing me down!
blue jacket / Lone Costume by Juun.J
floral shirt / Burger & Fries
teal trousers / TOPMAN
burgundy shoes / Zara
Here are some other bold tropical & floral looks from SS12. Above is Custo Barcelona and below is Kenzo. Mixing prints is fun and clashy-good times but I also love the head-to-toe print look.

chadchad of the day 6.7
patterned trench / Human Potential
yellow shirt / Issey Miyake
teal trousers / Topman
blue clutch / Louis Vuitton
orange socks / UNIQLO
maroon shoes / Zara
brown sunglasses / Cutler and Gross
I went hella bright for London Fashion Week day 4 as it was a blue skies kinda afternoon and I wanted to put myself in a spring sort of mood. Korean label Human Potential sent me this bold trench coat a few months ago as a gift and fashion week was the first time the weather felt right to wear it. The neutral almost burnt looking pattern has pops of aqua and purple and I wanted to bring those colors out by color blocking the rest of my outfit - yellow shirt, aqua trousers, blue clutch, orange socks, maroon shoes. It's a lot but I'm not afraid to experiment with color.
Below is another one of the daily videos I made for 1883 Magazine's Fashion Insider during the week. This time we focused on the confidence and craziness that makes up London's street fashion scene, which is louder and prouder than most other cities in the world.
**X's and O's to London Fashion by Paul and Rachel Phipps for some of the photographs!

chadchad of the day 6.5
checked jacket / Paul & Joe
black shirt / Dior
Nordic print tie / Topman
grey trousers / Sparks
black boots / Aldo
leather gloves & arm warmers / Korean street vendor
sunglasses / Cutler and Gross
clutch / vintage
Here is my outfit for day 5 of London Fashion Week. Shows I saw that day included Holly Fulton's very pink & turquoise collection and the hippie/backpacker/yoga/90's raver/glitter-bomb of a runway that Ashish put together. My Fashion Insider video coverage above for 1883 Magazine was unfortunately edited poorly by the filmmaker who confused the two shows, but we're trying to get in touch with him to sort that out!
I grabbed this image from WGSN's tumblr page, in a post highlighting grey winter tones seen on men in the street during fashion week. Huge thanks to Dior, Paul & Joe and again Cutler and Gross for the lending the samples for me to wear. It was one of the chillier days of fashion week so I made sure to dress warmly & winter appropriately with the layered gloves and the Nordic print tie.
