Yesterday morning Burger and I decided to hit up the Sunday Up Market along Brick Lane for brunch.  It's full of boutique clothing and accessories sellers, both vintage and handmade, along with a dozen or so super delicious ethnic food stalls including Ethiopian, Greek, Mexican and Indian food.  I opted for some savory okonomiyaki from one of the Japanese stalls.

I didn't even need a jacket the weather was so mild. So I just layered this American Apparel sweatshirt that I reformed by adding black pompoms along the sleeves with my new faux fur muffler, another thoughtful gift from Korean label Human Potential.

I have a similar reformed sweater from American Apparel for sale on our Burger & Fries ASOS Marketplace boutique, this one with polka dots and white pompoms. Truly one of a kind!

I met up with my good Paula yesterday afternoon at Old Spitalfields Market in east London to browse through the vintage clothes and antique junk, looking for inspiration to make some new jewelry for the Burger & Fries boutique. She is Swedish but I knew her from living in Seoul and haven't seen her since I left in April. She writes a great lifestyle & fashion blog called Noona Blog and also contributes to the Banana Milk blog, which is all about life in Seoul written from the perspective of foreign girls with more than a touch of yellow fever. Both are worth checking out, they have some great content.

I wore a vintage denim vest from way in the back of my closet that hasn't seen the light of day in a while, along with an amazing Parisienne vintage scarf that I found in Canada. The pheasant and bulldog pins are both from a junk drawer at my grandmother (aka Nani Noni)'s cottage. I matched them with a Marjan Pejoski tank covered in a pattern of glittery houses & diamonds that I picked up a few years back in Hong Kong. I also wore them with one of my favorite pairs of sunglasses from ASOS, which I keep in this lovely golden vintage glasses case that I found in Dongmyo market in Seoul.

Paula was actually wearing a rather similar palette to myself with both of us rocking silk scarves. She dug through her mom's closet when she was visiting Sweden before coming here to find the floral silk dress along with the scarf that her mom's friend hand dyed herself. It's a classic look but she always has fun, quirky details like the feather in her hair, the safety pin earring and the two watches - one set to London time, the other to Korean time.

IMG_0009
We also walked around Brick Lane to check out all the vintage shops as well as stopping by Behave, one of my favorite shops, where I picked up two pairs of trousers and a shirt by Sparks, all at ridiculous good sale prices.  Then it was a lovely Turkish meal before we went to Dalston for the LN-CC showroom party, which I'm going to post pictures from soon - a great night to start off London fashion week!

green & blue check shirt / Sparks

leather slippers / from India

IMG_0043
Welcome to our humble flat. I didn't get a chance to take a shot in my new oversized Sparks shirt before the sun started setting so I thought I'd take today's outfit of the day shot in my London diggs to give you an idea of where I'm living. I picked up the oversized shirt yesterday at a select shop called 'Behave' near Brick Lane in East London - they were having a sale and it was only 20 pounds so I bought a 10 pound pair of plaid Cheap Monday swimming trunks as well.  Holla.

I wore it with my tiny gold hamburger necklace (thanks B!) and a pair of vintage Levi's that I cut off into shorts then dipped halfway in bleach to give a gradient sort of look. The leather house slippers are from Jaisalmer, India aka the Golden City. A 12 year old boy and his father owned a shop there filled entirely of goods handcrafted from camel leather. I bought these, a satchel and two foot stools for really cheap when I was there in 2006 to go on a camel safari with a few friends. I wear the slippers at home every day.

Oh ps. that lump of grey fluff I'm holding is Terrence, our roommates cat. Nothing but swagger that boy.

Here are a few shots of some of mine & Burger's jewelry and some of my favorite things from around the flat.  You can notice some of Burger's brilliant hat creations hidden all over the house.

thanks tantrum!

IMG_0070
I stopped by the Tantrum Magazine launch party at 93 Feet East Brick Lane on Thursday night and they were nice enough to give us a sweet little goodie bag full of Purity & Tommyguns product plus a few sweeties & buttons.

According to their mission statement, Tantrum Magazine is "the smell of petrol, the feeling you get when un-boxing a new pair of shoes, knotted hair and heels that are too high. The way you act when you're around your best friends, Slushies with a vodka kick, torn t-shirt dresses that you've worn for 3 days straight. Fortune cookies and tequila. Heartbreak, lust and teenage angst."

I like that.  Not yet in print, check out Tantrums teaser #1 in pdf format HERE or their blog HERE.

IMG_0029
Tonight is the Bling magazine Night Flea Market at Platoon Kunsthalle and as I'm one of the sellers, I decided to reform a bunch of denim jackets & vests using black feathers, tassle and other scraps of things I had around the house. I wore it with my spanking new Bailey fedora that my friend Burger gave me for Christmas and my black MVIO cuff that was actually the invitation to MVIO by Han Sang Hyuk's SS2011 Collection last fall.

IMG_0014
The t-shirt is just a scabby old deep V from American Apparel that I reformed by pulling apart the threads to make a see-through stripe the runs up the right side all the way to the shoulder. A bit scandalous if worn alone due to the nipple action but it doesn't bother me as I'm no stranger to scandal ;).

The flask was a present from my friend Sharon who helped to write an article about me in NYLON Guys September 2010 issue. Love carrying around that flask because who knows when a little social lubricant will come in handy.

My friend Coco found the leather wallet pouch for me in Beijing. It's hung on a solid brass Japanese jean ring that I've had forever (lifetime guarantee) which I bought in Tokyo. The cute little Shamrock Care Bear key chain is another gift from Burger.

IMG_0002
I picked up these cheap cheap white sneakers on Brick Lane in London for only 5 pounds. I decided to reform them vintage tattoo style with the sparrows holding 'XOXO' banners and the knuckle tatt style writing. I was way happy with the result even though I know they are going to get disgusting dirty in like one night.

Here are a few of the denim goodies that I shredded, tassle, safety pinned, studded, cropped, etc for the flea market. (all except for the floral bedazzled jacket which was that awesome when I found it). I've had those feathers forever after wearing them on a blazer with a fishnet mask for Whitenoize 5 at Club Mansion. Glad I finally got a chance to make good use out of them. Stop by Platoon tonight and give me some money y'all!
