Glen Check '84'
LOVE LOVE this newly released video by Glen Check from Korea for his song '84'. I want to move into this triangle, unicorn galaxy land and hear vintage beats all day long. Also the blonde in the video is my 친안 친구 (aka. good friend) Cory who looks so badass, especially with diamond lights shining out of her eyes. Love it, share it and make it go viral y'all!

closet creeper
I'm so excited for Cory, one of my closest friends & a former partern in crime of mine from Seoul who is a staple among the nightlife scene in Korea, a total unicorn when it comes to personal fashion and an absolute babe to boot! She just launched an online shopping mall called Closet Creeper which features some of the most fun and trendy men's and women's wear that Korea has to offer.
They have free domestic shipping for those readers in Korea and free international shipping for orders over $150! Stay tuned here for possible upcoming promotions :)

chadchad & cory in Vogue Girl
A few weeks ago my friend Cory (who writes for www.bananamilk.net) & I were asked to take a street fashion shot for Kai-Aakmann and Vogue Girl. They were shooting pics for the S/S 11 unisex Replica Project which includes hooded military jumpers in khaki, black denim & olive green as well as denim vests l. If you are curious about what I am wearing, I actually used the outfit above (minus the Kai-Aackmann jacket because I won't get that in the mail for another few days) in a chadchad of the day HERE. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on that jacket - it's perfect for spring and I don't have any olive green in my wardrobe. Check out a few friends I know that were also featured in the spread found in the April 2011 issue of Vogue Girl Korea:

clips from 'Style Magazine'
Here is a promo of the 'Style Magazine' episode I filmed with my friends Cory, David & Coco for OnStyle TV in Korea. It aired last Thursday night but they play reruns quite often, so if you are in South Korea and missed it, you probably have a pretty good chance of catching it.
The four of us met on Thursday night to watch the episode at a little wine bar in Apgujeong called Cork. The wine definitely helped calm the butterflies I had in my stomach before watching the show. Luckily there was nothing to worry about as the producers did an amazing job of editing & made the four of us look like we know what we're talking about, ha. Here are a few screen shots of the show taken by our friend Jade who writes for this blog: http://blog.naver.com/jade010101
Here we are in the OnStyle studio talking with Han Hye Jin / 한혜진 the Korean supermodel host of 'Style Magazine'.
Here is Cory trying on one of her infamous party outfits.
Cory writes for a blog about life in Seoul as a foreign girl called bananamilk.net. It's under renovation at the moment but check back soon.
Coco looking adorable as always^^
David talking about his favorite Korean designers (General Idea by Choi Bum Suk & Lee Sang Bong Paris).
Check out David's blog & photography portfolio HERE.
Me showing a few of the clothes I have reformed & the Go-Stop necklace I made.
The four of us walking to a market shop on Saerosugil. I look GIANT!

chadchad of the day 2.6
yellow plaid shirt / reformed vintage
cut off denim / bleached vintage
paint splatter leggings / vintage
blue sneakers / Adidas
purple monster backpack / no brand
Today my friend Cory & I were asked to come up with a street fashion inspired look to wear along with the Kai-Aakmann military jackets pictured above for the April issue of Vogue Girl Korea. She wore the black one while I wore the khaki. Unfortunately I didn't sneak a shot on my iPhone with the jacket on, but they will be sending us each a jacket in the mail soon enough. It actually has a cute 'Kai-Bat' stitched onto the back and is a great light layering piece for spring.
I wore it along with this yellow plaid shirt I reformed to sell at the Bling Night Flea Market at Platoon tomorrow. I sewed a shiny pleather western inspired patch onto the upper left shoulder as well as adding some stud detailing.
These Jackson Pollock-esque leggings are actually an ultra badass unitard complete with shin-pads that I thrifted at Dongmyo flea market for about $1. I wore them under a pair of cutoffs that I dipped in bleach to make a subtle gradation of color from light to dark. I was given the sneakers almost two years ago (yikes!) after modeling for the Adidas 60th Anniversary party at Platoon with a few of my friends. Check out that collection of photos here, it was a ridiculous fun time: http://bit.ly/csFgft
I bought this angry little purple monster backpack for only W12,000 ($12US). I think I'll send it to my baby sister for her 11th birthday. Hopefully she'll be somewhat impressed that it was shown in Vogue Girl, but that's probably unlikely. She's a tough nut to crack that kid.

chadchad & friends in NYLON Korea!
hello nylon, hello korea!
This isn't about introducing you the typical foreigners in Korea who say they love Kimchi Jjigae and Korea. The foreigners we met are Korean-fashion-loving hipsters who shop at Dongdaemun and Dongmyo vintage market.
NYLON Korea recently contacted me about introducing some of my fashionable foreign friends living in Seoul. They met us each separately about two weeks ago for a quick street fashion photoshoot & a short interview about what we think about fashion in Korea.
My friend Burger Kim kindly translated the title page & my own interview. Unfortunately the original interview was done mostly in English and was translated poorly into Korean. They put a few words into my mouth (the word 'hipster' never came up once in my conversation with the fashion editor) & they didn't quite fully understand some of my answers, but overall it's a cute article. (I added corrections to my interview in brackets).
Where are you from? I'm from Saskatchewan, western Canada.
How long have you been in Korea? It's been about 4 years. I'm now taking an advanced level class (intermediate conversation level) in Korean and I understand most Korean language (I wish!) except the difficult stuff in the news.
What do you do in Korea? I run a fashion blog, thexoxokids.com and i'm also a Korean correspondent for a street fashion site called 'Streetpeeper' (never actually said that part - Street Peeper hasn't used my photographs for months!), so I usually go out to take street snaps at trendy spots during the week and on the weekend I go to flea markets or attend parties.
Has your style changed since you've been in Korea? Yes. A definite improvement. I think it's because I learned to enjoy occasionally mismatched styles rather than be embarrassed about them. (I've learned to mix & match my clothing well). So sometimes the very item I thought was a mistake would turn out to be just what I need to complete an interesting look. (I think it's okay to make the occasional fashion mistakes as long as you are creative & learn from them). I used to stand out too much as I was dressed in vintage clothing from head to toe (never said that), but after countless mistakes I became a better hipster through mixing and matching designer pieces (haha wtf? - I so would not use the word hipster to describe myself & I don't know anyone who would). Thanks to that I get interviews like this and modelling jobs. (ew, I never said that either).
What do you think of Korean fashion? As I always say, to me Korean men's fashion is more successful and interesting than women's, not only on the runways, but on the streets as well. I think that's why fashion capitals of the world such as London, Paris and New York are showing interest in many Korean men's wear designers. (I totally said all that).
Where's your favourite place to shop? I love Dongmyo flea market. Especially in the early morning (early afternoon, it opens at noon on weekends & 2pm on weekdays) that place is piled up with great vintage clothing and items. Finding a unique piece that you love in the midst of heaps of old stuff is like treasure hunting. And as I'm a foreigner, it's easier for me to bargain. (nope - lots of times it's the opposite).
You mentioned reforming is your hobby. What's your most recent reformed piece? Not long ago, I bought a cheap pair of student slippers (plimsolls) in London. I reformed them with a marker and they turn out very cute, so I wear them daily (I've worn them once). It says 'right' on the right shoe and 'left' on the left one.
