The latest lookbook for Beyond Closet by Korean designer Ko Tae Yong / 고태용 is a boyish, charming collection. Modeled by one of my favorite male models in Korea, it-boy Won Joong Kim / 김원중, the collection for spring/summer 2012 debuted today at Seoul Fashion Week. It contains shorts in various lengths, handsome check patterned jackets and shirts as well as a very enjoyable foliage pattern. Outside of Korea, Beyond Closet is stocked at Idiel showroom in New York.

beyond closet fw 2011/12 by ko tae yong

The Beyond Closet FW 2011/12 collection was once again entirely adorable. Each season designer Ko Tae Yong presents a theme such as 'Diary', 'Your Boyhood', 'Ordinary People' or this years 'Welcome Mr. B.C. Moving Company' and creates a very preppy, very innocent look reminiscent of childhood & the in-between years on the road to adulthood. The freckled moving men carrying boxes down the runway wore oh-so-Korean facemasks (worn when sick or during Yellow Dust season) along with shoulder bags & baseball caps bearing expressions like "Watch Out". There were a lot of checked patterns & quilted, utilitarian jackets with exterior bulky pockets in browns, greys, navys and,  as seen in a quite a few others collections this season, mustard. I especially enjoyed the lego-like moving man logo used as a pattern on a few of the flood pants & shirts.

/ This years Beyond Closet collection themed 'Your Boyhood', featuring an adorable illustration of a mouth full of braces, was very much what Koh Taeyoung is known for: clothes for a well-dressed man who can't quite grow up.  Deep burgundy, midnight blue & army green were the colors that stood out in childish shapes for suits, vests, trousers, short pants and trench coats. The baseball caps embroidered with "BC" along with striped patterns and checked plaids gave texture to the show.  I'd love to get my hands on that red leather strapless attache case. /
