Free Willy mood boards
I've been going through some of my old mood boards lately for kicks, and wanted to share the ones I made for the 'Free Willy' editorial I styled for issue 7 of 1883 Magazine with badass photographer Viktor Vauthier and the über fucking cool Willy Cartier as our model. (see the entire shoot HERE).
I wanted to feature some of the bright and bold menswear trends that were happening at the time (floral, tartan, denim on denim, the resurgence of 90's style logos, etc) paired with a more sinister S&M meets hostage kind of mood. It's definitely one of my favorite menswear editorials of all time and goes to show that a lot of prep work & research along with a stellar team = quality. Hope you like them and perhaps they will inspire you too.

Good Folk for Carbon Copy Magazine
This is a story called 'Good Folk' that I collaboration on once again with photographer Alexandra Leese for Client Magazine's Style Guide #6. She had a friend with a huge horse ranch in the English countryside and wanted to shoot some heavily tattooed & bearded boys in cowboy inspired attire. Danny Fox and Ricki Hall (aka #rickifuckinghall on Instagram) were the perfect dudes for the job.
To get a Western inspired mood going on, I pulled SS13 pieces like the tasselled trousers from KTZ, denim from the Kris Van Assche x Lee collaboration, loads of hats from The Hat Gallery M/V, some printed scarves from Markus Lupfer and a few of my grandfathers vintage bolo ties for authenticity. Other looks from Calvin Klein Collection, Ralph Lauren Denim, Patouf and T.Lipop rounded out the shoot. All in all a good day in the country with good folks, until that bastard of a train attendant fined us all for taking the wrong damn train back to London! Fucker haha.

The Foals for 1883 Magazine
I styled British band The Foals for the May 2013 issue of 1883 Magazine with the lovely Georgie Wileman handling the camera - she's a frequent contributor to Boys By Girls magazine and I've worked with her a few times before for that publication. She was a pleasure to work with, but I can't quite say the same for the lead singer Yannis - nice fella and all but dang, he's a picky guy to dress! They asked me to bring a few brands like APC and YMC in particular, plus I threw in a few pieces by Sandro, Farrell and Nudie Jeans. I'm definitely more into dressing actors than musicians but in the end it turned out decent enough. :)

Sadie Gets Cultured for 1883 Magazine
By far an all time favorite shoot of mine, Sadie Gets Cultured was a collaboration once again with Mark Shearwood and featured in issue 9 of 1883 Magazine. The gods aligned on this one and not only did we have the amazing Robilent + Voena gallery on Dover Street to use as a setting, but after an initial freak out session that we weren't going to have the right model for this, we ended up working with the gorgeously surreal Sadie Pinn who pushed the shoot to new levels of weirdness - no direction was needed for this girl, we just had to sit back and watch what she came up with.
My buddy John Mullan did the hair and the minimally perfect makeup was done by Kristina Vidic. Stephanie Staunton on nails also added to the subtle quirkiness of the story by using an airbrush to paint Sadie's nails and fingers the same tone - almost like she had stubby fingers without nailbeds. I was also really psyched by the clothing we got a chance to shoot such as the striped Moschino outfit, the leather Marni bits, a perfect Paul Smith pin striped shirt and pleated skirt, the Yves Klein blue Gucci number, Delfina Delettrez jewelry and some great pieces from Osman, Maison Martin Margiela, Ashish, John Rocha, etc. All in all I EFFING LOVE THIS SHOOT and I hope you do too.

Boyfriend Material for C-Heads
This is one of my new favorite stories that I styled for the online platform of C-Heads Magazine with Mark Shearwood, the bearded wonder who I also worked with for an Acne advertorial in 1883 a few issues back (an all-time fave shoot). I wanted to showcase mens AW13 accessories juxtaposed with a (mostly) nude female model. We found some inspiration in the awkward and beautiful imagery of Chinese photographer Ren Hang whose body of work I have been OBSESSED with lately.
I really loved some of the accessories featured, including the Maison Martin Margiela x G-Shock collaboration watch (seen above) and the Christian Louboutin for Jonathan Saunders MEN shoe (below). Other cool items included the stamped rings from Kris Van Assche and the hat & backpack from Kenzo.
Hair by Elvire Roux and makeup by Lucy Gibson - also shout out to my assistant Elias Tiggis for helping out.

606 for Carbon Copy Magazine
Another menswear story I worked on with Alexandra Leese, this time for Carbon Copy magazine - the brother publication to Client. Alex was inspired by old school Brooklyn jazz clubs in the 40's for this story, so I pulled in a lot of hats, pinstripes, bow ties and waistcoats for this story from tailors like Ede & Ravenscroft and Hardy Aimes to mix with more contemporary brands like Pringle of Scotland, Kris Van Assche and Vivienne Westwood MAN, plus a few cool pieces from young menswear designer Jaehwan Park. . I think my favorite image is one directly below with the grey waistcoat, pinstriped shirt and baggy pleated camouflage trousers from Kenzo.

Xander Zhou for 1883 Magazine & Fucking Young!
Above is my final Fashion Editor's pick for the most recent issue of 1883 Magazine, featuring Zoe Saldana of Star Trek and Avatar fame on the cover. My pick for this issue focused entirely on Xander Zhou's - one of my favorites by far from London: Men's Collection during the AW13 season.
Only one image was published in 1883 and we had so many amazing choices that I also submitted to Fucking Young!, which they recently featured online. There were too many super shots not to see them all published somewhere. Kudos to Elliott Morgan and the rest of the team for making it happen.

Swim Fan's for Client Magazine
This is a men's swimwear story I styled for Client Magazine a few months back with one of my favorite photographers to work with in London, Miss Alexandra Leese. John and Gina, on hair and makeup respectively, are also a dream to work with. I really wanted to mix in some Balenciaga SS13 style stacked gold rings plus loads of earrings with the swimwear to give it a bit more of a lux vibe. Fave weird moment of the shoot? When Gina was using a paint brush to dab oil onto Chris's armpits in the above shot - ha!
