designer Lou Dalton
With inspirations as far ranging as the miners' strike in 1984-85, The Pitman Painters and Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, Lou Dalton presented her spring/summer 2012 collection in the intimate Portico Rooms at Somerset House yesterday. Shredded white denim and crystal encrusted belts & bibs were the bold looks of the show, but more subtle items such as a simple lace knit t-shirt, a pajama jacket in white or black with opposing trim and gold zipper detailings were just as strong. The malnourished, pale and very British looking boys wore soft bowl cuts or closely cropped buzz cuts, many of them sporting large tattoos peeking out of sleeves and collars. The wide collared khaki trench coat/biker jacket mashup worn tucked into a matching pair of shorts was my favorite look of the collection.
