Love.Acne.Music.Baby
Love.Acne.Music.Baby / 1883 Magazine issue 8, April 2013
photography / Mark Shearwood
fashion / Chad Burton
models / Mary @ Select, Marina @ Premier
makeup / Gina Blondell
hair / Elvire Roux
all clothing / Acne Studios
This is by far one of my favorite editorials I've worked on. It was a feature on the SS13 collection by Acne Studios and it was my first time working with Mark Shearwood, who've I've since worked on a few others stories with. I found the styling of Acne's catwalk presentation to be quite heavy and weighed down, so I really wanted to lighten that up in this story by not doing quite so much layering. Super happy with the result and I love how both these girls worked together - they almost look like the same girl except you'll notice Mary's eyebrows are quite dark whereas Marina's are bleached out to look like they aren't even there.

1883 Magazine Sweet & Sour promo
fashion / Chad Burton
video / Canister Studio
Check out Nicholas Hoult looking handsome in full look SS13 Mugler with some patent leather Christian Louboutin loafers for the promo video of 1883 Magazine's Sweet & Sour issue. Jelly beans & airplanes & chalk outlines - doesn't really make that much sense but with eyes as blue as those, who gives a shit?

Love love my latest editorial 'Twitterpated' for the 8th issue of 1883 Magazine. Anna Bu, a Ukrainian artist who studies at Central Saint Martins collaborated with us on this story by cut and pasting a collage of spring-like flora and fauna. We were initially going to cast a male (as it is a menswear story) but when Lia from IMG came in the office, her androgynous good looks made me want to cast her on the spot. Big shout out to Elliott - such a pleasure to work with!

Nicholas Hoult for 1883 Magazine
Issue 8, the Sweet & Sour issue of 1883 is out now with up and coming leading man Nicholas Hoult as photographed by Mark Cant. (Buy it online HERE). I styled this story with some of my favorites pieces from SS13, including stripes from Acne Studios, bright shoes with neon piping from Christian Louboutin, Moschino's Budweiser and laundry detergent inspired prints and a double breasted number from Dior Homme.
He was a chill guy to work with and while he confessed he may not wear any of these clothes in public, he was happy enough to play a character for our editorial purposes. Still haven't seen him in either Warm Bodies or Jack the Giant Killer yet - but what I'm really psyched about is the remake he shot of Mad Max (hence the shaved head) which will be coming out next year. Hope you like the pics - be sure to buy a copy online to read the full article!
